NETLEY POLICE COMPLEX |

The new Netley Police Complex on Marion Road (next to Griffin Press) is nearing completion.
The first stage of this project was the development of a community station (shopfront) in Sussex Street at Glenelg to replace the previous station in Moseley Square.
The second and major stage combines the independent divisions of the Glenelg police and the STAR (Special Tasks and Rescue) Group in a purpose-built, state of the art, single-storey facility at a total project cost of $10 million.
In addition to the usual areas for the station and patrols, there are specialist training facilities for the STAR Group, such as a four-storey abseiling tower and a large well-equipped gymnasium and secure undercover garaging for special vehicles. Abundant storage is also provided. The complex does not include holding cells. A large, secure, landscaped car park is provided at the rear of the building.
There are common conference and meeting rooms, and a shared meals area that opens onto a fully enclosed and private landscaped internal courtyard that will be a real focus for the occupants as well as allowing abundant natural light into the building.
The project is currently within budget and on time, with an anticipated occupation in mid-July 2001.
